Alex specialises in both commercial litigation and employment law (both contentious and non-contentious). He is also experienced in all forms of alternative dispute resolution. He started his career in 1992 as a barrister and requalified as a solicitor in 2001. Alex joined Barker Gillette LLP in 2005 having formerly been a partner at Amhurst Brown Colombotti and Howard Kennedy.
Alex has lived in London all his life. He enjoys opera, calypso and most films, enjoys watching most sport and tries his hand at a few and dabbles in cooking and the consumption of fine wine.
Alex's litigation practice includes all forms of interim injunctive relief including asset freezing, search and seizure and anti suit injunctions, disputes relating to contracts, express and implied trusts, fiduciary duties, economic torts, breaches of confidence, professional negligence, intellectual property and corporate and personal insolvency.
In addition to conducting litigation in the High Court, Alex has experience in domestic and ICC arbitrations. His employment practice covers wrongful and unfair dismissal claims, disputes relating to post-termination restrictions, garden leave, misuse of confidential information, transfers of undertakings, sex, race and disability discrmination and advising on disciplinary and other day-to-day employment issues, service agreements, severance packages and compromise agreements.
Alex has been involved in litigation in the Queen's Bench Division, Commercial Court and Chancery Division, the Court of Appeal and the House of Lords but regards all his cases as being important, no one case being more important than any other.
