SAMPLE CASES The field of dental implantology is becoming increasingly popular these days offering a "hollywood" smile by the placing of implants as an alternative to dentures. Unfortunately, there are "cowboys" out there who do not have the experience to undertake such complex procedures, and at great financial expense, it is sadly the case that patients are suffering lifelong pain having fallen into the wrong hands. We are representing two clients who have suffered permanent facial disfigurment and dental problems as a result of the negligent work of an implantologist. We acted for a client whose dentist failed to advise as to the presence of periodontal bone loss. As a result of the delay in diagnosis and treatment, our client suffered extensive periodontal disease. We succeeded in negotiating a significant payment on the client's behalf. Our client suffered serious injuries in a motorbike accident. Liability was denied by the other motorcyclist. We advised the client to persevere in fighting the case, and as a result were successful at trial in achieving damages in excess of £20,000. Our client suffered permanent scarring as a result of negligent rhinoplasty surgery. Liability was contested, proceedings were issued but the case settled before trial for a substantial sum. Our client suffered significant knee injuries as a result of tripping over an uneven paving stone. We sued the owners of the development as a result of which we negotiated a 5 figure sum on behalf of our client. Our client suffered permanent nerve damage as a result of negligent dental treatment. She suffered significant and ongoing pain and had a substantial loss of earnings claim. Liability was admitted however we were faced with complex arguments about causation and quantum which resulted in a lengthy trial and a successful outcome for the client who was awarded significant damages.
